July 1, 2009Heh, Damm dudes/Gals this is Steve Wood, Long time no see. Got me a hold of a 1985 F150 4x4, has a 6" suspension lift and a 2" body lift. Question is the steeringbox is leaking and has play in it. Got to replace it. Is there a better one than stock stuff that will fit? Help me out. If I get it running you will see me soon. Still got my sweet lowered 2004 but I like the Big ones too.Kinda getting bored riding low hahahaha. Oh and how the hell do we get to our members chapter page.

As for the steering box, I would tell you to get a rebuild kit. It should have new gears that will go inside of the box and that will restore the box back to brand new. The box should be more than strong enough to handle what you are planning for the truck. The only thing that I would caution you on is looking at the mount for the steering box to make sure that it is holding up adequately. It is not uncommon for the steering box mount to crack and start raising hell.
