April 23, 2011Hello, I have a 2004 f150 heritage with 10" of lift 38.5" tires and 4.88 gears in it. It has a 4.6 in it with the 4r70w automatic transmition. I have found a 04 lightning motor that i want to swap the 4.6 out with. I was wondering what all i will need to do the swap? I already have delta forces sniper tunning software so i can tune the stock computer. but i just want to know if all the sensors are the same and if i need to relocate some or will everythin plug in? I`m also going to try and run my 4r70w tranny with the lightning motor, but i will be getting an aftermarket converter which will be built for this application and have a decent stall speed in the range of 2200-2600 rpm? and i will be installing a transgo shift kit aswell, hopeing that this tranny will hold together long enough for me to get more $ to have one built. Any info will help me thanks.

April 25, 2011Do you have the L motor wire-harness?
April 25, 2011Yes i can get the harness, is there some different sensors ?, or why would i need it?
April 26, 2011You can use the 4.6 harness, but I think you would need to splice in 1 or 2 wires. One is an air temp sensor.
I think the L has two and your 4.6 only has one.
The L harness makes it a little easier.
If your doing it for sure,
I would go on f150online. There`s better info over there and a lot of guys that have done the swap.
I have an L motor in my truck but I had a guy do most of the work,so I probably wont be able to give you the technical answers that you need.
If you search this forum, you might even find a better answer.
