April 29, 2011Been a while since I got on here. couldn`t get my computer to load the pages for ever (over a year).
I still have my `92 F-350 7.3l. The head gasket went and the rest of the motor wasn`t worth messing with so I picked up a `90 model engine tranny and t-case for $600 (couldn`t beat it).
My `92 trans is rebuilt with all the upgrades, the guy before me spent over $3700 on it.
Problem is that it keeps spitting codes and going into safe mode. I get 1-2 shift errors and 2-3. No slipping and no funny stuff.
Right now the motor and trans is still out of the truck. Wondering what to do. On one hand I have a newly rebuilt trans with all new internals that is acting up and a 90 model that`s fluid looks brand new at 150k but I have never used it so don`t know.
The brake light on my dash stayed on all the time almost and the cruise won`t work. I have been reading around and this seems to possibly be related to my transmission issue.
All my sensors are new and adjusted. The truck seems to have trouble when I am easier on it or when I`m on bumpy roads. If I run the crap out of it on relatively smooth pavement I never get any trouble from it.
I`ve been told the ABS and other things can cause problems. I have a new VSS sensor and my speedometer does not bounce but I keep getting a code relating to the vss signal being too low from the trans computer.
I guess after all that, what I need to know is what can I do when I put my truck back together to eliminate this nonsense and have cruise control again. I know it is something stupid.
