July 23, 2004I've been noticeing that my truck has been running rather odd lately. it has been hesatating and acting like it is missing. I haven't really had the chance to look at it yet.
but yesterday, I overheated and I have what looks to be some orangish(rust??) stuff all over my firewall and the back half of the engine. I'm supposing this stuff was in my coolant and I possibly blew a head gasket? I really don't know, I haven't had time to take apart the engine, the truck is just parked in the garage.
but here's my question. I have read someone else's post about overheating and aluminum heads will warp. I have a 98 F150 w/ 4.6L, I know my block isn't aluminum but I have no idea if my heads are. if they are warped, how will i know? how common is it for a block to become warped and how can I tell that?
This really sucks, I just bought a tremec T56 that I was going to fab into this truck, but now I'm working on the engine.
since I have the engine apart, and supposing the heads are warped. if I get the dohc cobra heads cobra intake, and cobra throttle body, does anyone know if my computer will accept this or will it be confused? would a special tune make it work out? ormaybe just go with the cheapter PI setup. while I've got the engine apart I might as well upgrade.
