April 15, 2005What bellhousing? SBF or Mod? Stock internals/frictions?
April 15, 2005its a stock 4R70W from a 4.2L V6 off a 98 F150
April 15, 2005I'd say $1100 max. but you could probably get $750-$900 real easy. I say this because my old truck had a 4R70w with 150k on it when I went to a shop and inquired about a rebuild and they quoted me $1200 for a rebuilt or low milage unit installed. Of course this was on a V8 truck, might not be the same for a V6.
April 16, 2005Since you can't provide a warranty don't expect anything near that much. I had a fully rebuilt E4OD I had to sell (2x4 small block bell, needed 4x4) with about 6000 miles on it... only got just a tad over $400 for it. BW tans, TransGo, .427" boost valve, 45 element sprag, etc.
You're selling something that most people can check out and it's simply not worth that much and it's used now with a good amount of miles on it. If you shop around, you can have one rebuilt like ya said for a few hundred less with a warranty...
Honestly, it's worth $350-500 tops.
April 16, 2005I hear ya on the warranty stuff. Just wondered what it is worth. So asking 500 is not bad. it only has al little under 15,000 miles on it. thanks for the help.
April 17, 2005Ask more and put "Or Best Offer" and see what bites...
April 17, 2005for sure. every little bit helps. will give me some mod money.
April 18, 2005There ya go. Had the E4OD I scooped up been 4x4, I'd probably be in the truck now. ... the AOD is just awful
April 28, 2005you thinks so Eric?
Ever heard of a Lentech AOD?
you'd be suprised to see a AOD handle a 1,000hp engine
April 28, 2005Gotta remember, I'm talking in stock form. Lentech's is FAR from that. Custom 3-4 input shaft, custom 3-4 input drum, totally different valve body, etc. There's no way it could hold 1000hp in a 2.5 ton truck. In a 1.5 ton car, sure.
A damn near stock E4OD with a built valve body could hold as much power as a fully built AOD could with a standard nonlockup input shaft...
It'd be very cool and all (it's amazing what can be done with it honesty), but for a good deal less money I could have a far stronger trans in the truck and be further ahead is all. That fully prepped one is $3000 w/o converter!
