August 5, 2005Well the Middle East dealer finally got the F150's in, small problem, they only wanna bring supercrews. I want a supercab. Salesman said they have no plans to bring in any supercabs. Asking him if they would warranty a privately imported F150 because there's no way I'm buying a 5.5' bed was enough to make him check with the manager and they will actually bring in whatever I want but I have to wait 90 days for them to fit Gulf-Spec parts (heavy duty AC, different fuel system, various other changes) and then ship it here.
Even though I'm not a fan of the main dealer, if I buy it through them I'll get a 6 year unlimited mileage warranty rather than 3 yrs standard one that I might have to fight over. I need to check next time that they will follow the Magnusen Moss act and warranty the rest of the truck except the axles and bearings when I put 36" tires on it.
Anyway, I gotta come up with a spec-list which they will then give me a quote on and we take it from there and see what the financing options are like.
I'm just curious from those of you that have the trucks, what factory options have turned out to be pointless to you, dissapointing or not worth having... and what ones have turned out to be far better than you expected and are something you wouldn't want to live without now...
Basic vehicle is gonna be a 5.4L 4x4 Lariat, Bright Red with black interior. As far as I can tell the body trim comes in tan only on the red Lariats but I'll have that resprayed dark metallic grey, or black. I will be replacing the fenders and bumpers anyway so not fussed about them. The vehicle will have specialised UV & IR-blocking tint to keep that black cabin cool
Flow-through center console is a must, and I want a sunroof... can they fit a shortened rail-system behind the sunroof?
Other than that I'm about to start ticking check boxes but was looking for some input from people that live with the truck every day...
