Thats Funny your Son has a magnum with a supercharger on it ?????? Who Tuned the PCM to accomodate for the Boost?????? I find that hard to beleive because I Own an 03 Ram, and an 02 F-150 Harley Davidson. My Dodge does'nt get to see anything but my Fords taillights. Anyways I am a member of DTW trucks and have been for 2 years. In that time i have followed uncountable posts on Supercharging the Hemi Engine and Issues with Cracking the code on the PCM to accept the boost. Most superchaged hemis only put down maybe 60 more horses to the rear wheel than the stock hemi because there are only about 3 people that i know of in the country that can half *** tune the pcm , and they are the developers of the chargers. That only equates to about 25 more than what my Stock Harley lays down to the rear wheels. most of the problem is they cant tune them for more than 6lbs of boost without detonation and Dodges Spongy 45rfe Trannys HP loss. He might have a superchaged Magnum , but if he does , he's only one of about 15 people that I have ever heard of that has sucessfully charged the Hemi, and I personally know 6 of them. Being an Owner of Both I can Tell you my dodge is a Sweet looking Truck, Other than that it's Junk. The PCM is Crap it does what it wants when it wants...It only half *** controlls the Engine and the Drive by wire has almost got me killed 3 times by Whats been termed as Dead pedal... 2 second pause before it kicksdown and goes. I never know when i stomp it if its gonna go. Had it Flashed with three differnt Modules and still has issues. Dodge says that it's normal. Dont even get me started on Dodge's Lovely Torque management...... Dont come in here in a Ford Forum and show your *** before you do a little more research on your topic. Yes Hennesy motorsports has had no problem Boosting the Viper motor, but thats because Its already a High performance engine with a high perfomance PCM and dodge has'nt hoarded the Codes for that PCM like they have for the Hemi or the Magnum engines. Im unbiased I own Both...Dodge cant hold a candle to my ford and the aftermarket is 100 times better for the ford than it is with Dodge. Thats because Ford is'nt scared to cater to the aftermarket because they have confidence in their product and know that they can safely run at higher levels than stock. Dodge is'nt thats why they have held on to their PCM codes and bumped it up to 64bit because they dont want anyone modifing anything above stock because they know their crap wont take it. It took almost 2 years for a programmer to come out for the hemi and it barely did squat. The highest gains From hypertech advertised for their tuner is 22hp. Most people only see about 15 , and thats just because they only modified some fuel curves spark curves and a few timing tables at WOT. The only things you can modify is the rpm limiter up to 500 rpm, change tire size and raise the top speed. Thats it. Compare that to what They offer for Ford or Chevy as far as options they have. YOu cant even touch shift points or shift firmness in the Dodge version. Again I ask you why?? Because Dodge does'nt have any confidence in their product and encrypt their PCM. Dodge only relies on Living off of their musclecar rep they built in the 60s by offering vehicles with the name of those musclecars
like using the Hemi Reputation to sell their Flagship motor that is even a True Hemi. The 4.7 Liter Magnum is closer to a Hemi than the Hemi is. They Sell the Rumble Bees and claim they are only going to make 10,000 (which is just a Hemi Ram 1500 with some body moldings and a stick on hood scoop) To later Release the second swarm pissing off all of the people that bought the bees thinking they bought a "limited edition" Look that up Dodge is in deep doo-doo over that. Then they release the Charger, and they made it a four door...nothing special about it, just the Charger name which is embarrasing at best. They Could'nt hang in the sport-truck arena, with the Hemi, So they Produced the SRT-10, that is $15,000 more than the Lightning and is only 3 tenths faster in the quarter mile, using their Viper Engine. Imagine if Ford Put their Sportscar engine (GT-40) into the lightning...but they did'nt have to. Dodge could have just simply superchaged the Hemi. You know why they did'nt because they would have to re-design the Hemis bottom end and beef up the rings etc to handle more than 6 lbs of boost they are able to handle now to compete, and even then it would'nt have been competition because it would'nt have produced the numbers needed to hang with the lightning. Hell Their 500 horses can barely hold their title so you think a 425 boosted Hemi would have. They did'nt either thats why they did'nt do it. The Fastest Ram on DTW is barely able to break into the low 12s using a 200 shot of Nos. There are lightnings on this site that break into the 11s with less in mods than what he spent on his whole Zex. That shows you that even if these Dodge owners could get an astronominal unrealistic 150 (more like 80)hp by supercharging their Hemis with the same boost numbers the 5.4L are running they'd still come up short. Thats when. the Stock 5.4 liter Triton starts off with way lower HP numbers naturally aspirated than the N/A Hemi does. The Proof is in the Pudding My man. And thats Coming from a man that has Both of what we are talking about here. No Bias Just Facts. Now go back over to DTW and read up on the STS superchargers PCM issues and all of what was mentioned above before you come in here and embarrass yourself......
