September 26, 2005hey everyone im looking at getting a ford ranger 4x4 for my first truck im (15) and i start driving in feb. I want to go offroading as soon as i get it, nothing to wild at first just some mud here and there. My question is about the rangers are they good offroading vehicles or should i look into something else.

September 26, 2005stay away from rangers, they suck for offroading...
if you want to start getting into wheelin ranger is a great place to start. Pick up a 93-97 one with TTB and a 4.0. You'll get the strongest drivetrain and have the best one to lift. You can toss on a body lift and some coil spacers and fit 33's easy...
September 26, 2005i was thinking like a 98' because i like the body style and the extended cab.
September 26, 2005i was thinking something like this man what do u think ? as my first truck now and a starter everyday/weekend offroader http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Ranger-XLT-1999-FORD-RANGER-4X4-EXTENDED-CAB-VERY-NICE-LOOK-99_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ5350QQitemZ4577464067QQrdZ1
September 27, 2005I had a '86 Ranger as my first truck.. it's now sitting on a used car lot for sale (BUY IT! ).
I'm 16 and we've had it for about 2 years now and it was a fun little truck. They're great for first time drivers and mine did damn good in its stock form... I followed and went everywhere a '94 Yota did that's lifted and on 33" BFG M/T's.
I'd say get one, I loved mine.. but I like the F150 better, it's bigger with a bigger motor
September 27, 2005Great Starter
September 27, 2005ya not bad but susension lifts are a ton of money for those. however a body lift and crankin the t bars will allow for 33's...if you ever plan on getting into serious offroading get a 93-97.
September 27, 2005Come on now, dont knock the ranger. They make some of the best duners and offroad racers. Long travel suspension kits for them are totally sick.
September 27, 2005who was knocking it? I was being sarcastic...i own one that is quite modded...
