February 16, 2006I have a 2003 6.0 PSD with 3.73's in it and went to 35" tires. I lost a little low end and am now thinking of putting in some 4.30's. How many of you with gassers in your super duties have changed out gears to lower than 4.30's. I am wondering because i would like some used 4.30's. I am sure a lot of people with lifted gassers have changed gears. Does anyone want to help me out. Thanks.

February 16, 2006Are you sure that they make a 4.30 for a 4wd? I know in the F150 you can only get 4.10 and 4.56 for 4wd. I changed from 3.55 to 4.10's in my F150 and its the best thing that I ever did. I almost wish I would have gone with a 4.56 just to have some extra go juice. I have 4.10's in my 93 F250 diesel also running 33x12.50's and it does just fine. The diesels have so much torque that you can cheat on the gears. For you I would say go with at least a 4.10. Sould be really easy to find too cause that is a factory gear option.
February 16, 20064.30 is an optional gear ratio to get from the factory. So they do exist. I personally would just get 4.56.
February 16, 2006id get 4.56 but if 4.30s are possible you should get those
February 16, 20064.30 ford gears would work. 4.56's and 35's is overkill especially on a diesel.
February 16, 2006I know they have them for super duty gassers. The v-8 and v-10 super duties have 4.30's from the factory on some. I would like someones slightly used gears. I will buy them, but not for too much $$$$.
February 16, 2006i say 4.56, then you can get a bigger tire if you want.
Or if you dont mind stressing the trans a hair then get a programmer, it will give you all your power back and more
