Hey guys my 99 with 7.3 just started starting hard like yesterday morning it cranked and cranked but would not fire batterys were good cause it was crankin fast. just would not fire so i kept tryin and every once in a while id get some smoke out of exhaust but just would not fire up. after bout ten min all sudden it just started. wierd but drove it to work and after work it fired right up. but this morning it didnt take as much to get it started but not normal like it use to. and it really has not been that cold. Could like my cam sensor be startin to go or do they usually just go? just had it replaced on recall by ford last year but yea i could really use any ideas and help thanksForums : Engines-Diesel : Truck starts hard Need help (66 Views)

Has it gotten alot colder there recently? I know that I have seen several glow plug relays and glow plugs go with the recent cold snap we just got here in SC.December 8, 2009
I agree with the glow plug idea. My old 7.3 got to where it just would not crank without using the block heater. I replaced the glow plugs & solved the problem. Try using the block heater to see if it starts. If this cures cold starts get the glow plug relay checked & the glow plugs too.![]() |
