Hey, I was wondering if there is any way to make a set of long tube headers from a 2V 5.4L work on a 2V 4.6L V8??? What is the difference between the 2 exhaust manifolds???Forums : F-150 (1997-2003) : 5.4L long tubes headers on a 4.6L? (273 Views)

Only difference is the 5.4 is higher. So the 5.4 headers on the 4.6 would hang a little lower.
The heads are the same between the two and the exhaust manifolds bolt up the same.

Really? that should be fine with my setup then. But how much lower would it be than the 5.4L? I would have to make it so it will still bolt onto a 5.4 also, because i will be doing that swap in a year or two...thanksApril 10, 2010
With your truck being lifted like it is you should have no problem fitting them on ether the 4.6 or 5.4I have long tube headers on my truck without any problems. And they don`t hang lower then the frame of the truck.
I have the 5.4 with Kook`s long tube headers.

The only company that advertises a set of 4.6 headers for our trucks is Pacesetter. They have the dies but have never made a production run.The 5.4s need to be modded around the starter as the angle on the taller 5.4 as well as length run them into the starter.
Myself will try a Mustang set and hope they fit clean. If not make my cxhanges to them.

did they have to mod the pacesetter headers to work properly on the 4.6?April 16, 2010
They had to use some-kind of adapter to hook up the EGR tube. The fitting is a different size on the 5.4 headers.Other then that ,they went right on.
