October 23, 2010that is a great mod.
I am going to look into doing that to my explorer
October 23, 2010That looks great! What lights did you use?
October 24, 2010Nice!
October 25, 2010I used a set of oem sd foglights and a set of hid lights I had laying around.
October 25, 2010Belz,
I think that came out great, I have been wanting to this but couldn`t figure out exactly how guys were mounting the lights.
Mind taking a picture of them mounted underneath, so I can get an idea as to how you mounted them, they look perfect.
October 31, 2010Hey thanks, thats simple enough how you did it.
October 31, 2010I need to cut the zip ties but just be creative on the mounting depending what lights you use. As for wiring, I ran a fused line from the battery to a relay inside and wired it to the dome lamp wire inside and then ran my power and ground to each light from the relay through a grommet in the floor. The wires for the passenger cross inside and go out the same placed grommet on the passenger side rather than crossing the tranny and exhaust underneath.
November 27, 2010Can you do a basic wiring diagram? For some reason I`m not picturing what you did for the wiring.
I have a Ranch Hand bumper and no place for my factory fogs so I am repurposing them to under body lights as well.
I took my lights out of the plastic bracket they came in but that is because mine was to bulky and didn`t fit well underneath, instead I have mine screwed to the frame, tonight when I get home I plan on getting my second light mounted (I am drilling a hole for the screw straight to the frame), I will have both of them mounted about center between the front and rear doors.
My biggest concern though is on the passenger side, the exhaust runs right where I wanted that one to go, so my alternative is to mount it on the other side of the frame away from the exhaust, so does anyone think this will cause heat issues?
I will add photos when I get a chance to take some. I am hoping to get good enough photo`s to do an actual write up on this awesome little install.
November 27, 2010The exhaust runs on the inside of the frame rail. I don`t see why u would mount the lights there. Mine are on the outside of the frame rail. Anywho, here are 2 options using a standard 30 amp relay. One with an optional switch.
