December 9, 2010I own a 2006 F150FX. I turned my dome light on yesterday morning and when I went to cut it off, it wouldn`t go off. It stayed on. This is the same light that goes dim, then out when the truck is off. Not only that, the outside exterior light(The one that dims, then goes out)stays on also and takes a long time to go out. I went inside the dome light and can see two white on-off switches that seem to control the lights. Could these be bad as I have taken them out to get relplaced. I`ll try this first before getting raked over the coals at the dealer.

December 9, 2010there is a switch inside the door at the latch, spray it with WD-40 and that should free it up
December 9, 2010Man I think Ford should get pre lubed door latches with the way we keep getting threads like this`n over here!
Do what Gearjammer says and you`ll be ok.
December 9, 2010GoodDoc, if the lights failed on after you manually turning them on, I would be venturing to guess that the switch failed. Now, if you had gotten into and out of your truck and then they failed to turn off, then I would be looking at the door latch. But, before you go buying parts, I would try spraying the door latches with a bit of WD-40 to see if they will free up. Worst case, you are doing some preventative maintenance on your truck.

Let me first thank every one of you who responded to assist me in this. When you speak of the door latch, will I need the little extension tube for the WD40 to get inside the door latch?
December 10, 2010GoodDoc, needed, no, but you will use a ton more WD-40. Worst case, pull one of those tubes off of another can and then give the tube a good cleaning with WD-40 by spraying something else (old rag). After a second or two of spraying, you will have nothing but WD-40 in the straw.
