March 22, 2011I choose my truck because A: I am a Ford Man. B: I needed to tow my Mustang occasionally. C: It was 2006 when I purchased my 2001 F-150 XLT 4x4 xCab with just 14K on the odometer and 14K in cash.
March 22, 2011My wife. I wanted 2 buy 2 base model Rangers so we both would have new dependable vehicles but she would not budge so I got my current truck. 2011 F-150 4x4 ext cab and still have the 94 F-150 4x4
March 22, 2011for my 79, it was less than 6 months old, and i got it very cheap.
the 78, 1 year old and cheap.
the 88, the 86 i had was 18 months old and the cats plugged up, and melted 3 pistons. i rolled into a dealership, they looked at it and said defective cats, and we will give you $11,000 trade in on the 88 diesel. i only paid $9,000 for it.
the 2000 is a plow truck, it has 12,000 miles on it, and was only $3500.
the 2001 i looked at for a friend, he heard it was diesel and said i want gas.
i asked the guy bottom line, and he said $12,000. with the plow. couldn`t turn him down
March 22, 2011I was really into nascar at the time..& I am a ford guy. I seen one of these trucks up close at a dealership several times but figured i would never be lucky enough to own one..until about 6 months later i happened across one at a tiny car dealership when browsing an auto trader mag, at the time I was thinking about purchasing a 94-96 stepside bed f-150...well at any rate I found my nascar truck for 16,800 asked him if he would take 16 even & he did which i was very happy with cosidering it was basicly new & had never been titled yet, just passed around from dealer to dealer...so at any rate I got my nascar truck for around 6,000 less than retail & it only had 950 dealer driven miles on it. I couldnt have been happier & still basicly am 12 years later. Though im not nearly as crazy for nascar now as I once was..if fact alot of times i dont even watch it these days...It`s got some rust now & some scratches & a few other wear & tear problems but nothing to be to worried about. I always did wish that it would have come with the 5.4 instead of the 4.6, but still...Im happy with my truck it`s at this point got just 107,000 miles on it & still running fine, not bad for a vehicle that has seen 12 northern Indiana winters & has never had the luxery of being garaged.
March 22, 2011well when ford redesigned the superduty for 1999 i knew i had to have one , so when i finally paid off my 88 bronco i waited until money wise everything was right and then in april of 2001 a black ext cab short box 5.4 v8 F250 superduty 4X4 was at my local ford dealer i waited till late june till i walked in the dealer got my truck for $26,500 i was happy and ten years and 124,000 miles later , l got a little rust on her but she never sees the inside of a garage unless it is something i can`t do , i am still very happy with her
March 22, 2011at the time, could not afford a crew cab 150 or an excursion or an expedition.
I still would love a crew cab but still can`t afford it
March 22, 2011I was a Dodge man for the last 16 years but I loved the look of the 2008 F250 when it first came out. I didn`t think I could afford it but found a pre-owned 2008 Lariat last November with very low mileage in mint condition. The power is awesome and it rides stiff but not bumpy. Highway mpg is not bad for a truck that size. I have the 5.4 gas engine which has plenty of power since I don`t haul that much weight. All around the best truck on the road.
March 23, 2011Ford man all my life ( Mustang came out the year I was born...duh! ) My F150 was a trooper but I needed to have more power. Got tired of rolling down the windows in Upstate Ny and flapping all our arms to get up some of the hills with my 6000lb TT ( pics in gallery ). Now......I can even accelerate uphill!
March 23, 2011I`d previously had a `88 Ranger and a `95 F150.
We decided we wanted to get a 5th wheel. So...we figured we needed a capable truck to handle that large of a load.
I`d not had a diesel before. Didn`t know a lot about them, thought they were noisy and stunk. Interestly enough, all the things I didn`t like about a diesel are things I now think are great.
We did get our 5th Wheel and we really enjoy going out in it. It is also equipped with a receiver hitch and a goose-neck ball. So I can tow just about anything that`s towable.
I got the crew cab so we could take some of our grandkids with us if we wanted. The long bed has come in handy a lot when hauling stuff. You can get so much more in there.
March 26, 2011I have always wanted a F150 since I was a child. My family all owned ford trucks. My Dad had an early 90s F150 blue, My uncle had a 78 F150 black and yellow, and my Grandpa had a mid 80s F150 red. When I finally found myself in a position to get something It had to be an F150.
March 26, 2011In 2008 I had a 99 F-150 and it was getting tired pulling our TT. We needed to replace it and I mentioned getting an SUV and wanted a Ford. The room for the 2 kids and Old English Sheepdog would be nice. I knew we needed one with the HD tow package for our TT. I was out of town and my wife called and told me to look at one on a web site. 2007 Black XLT, HD tow package, self leveling rear suspension, and other packages. It had a little over 12,000 miles on it. When we went to look at it it was perfect for what we needed and the price was right. In 2008 gas was $4+/gal and dealers were selling full sized SUVs cheap. We were starting the paperwork and another salesman asked for the keys to the black Expedition. When our salesman said he just sold it the little old couple gave us a dirty look. Before i signed anything I wanted the carfax report since the miles seemed low. It turned out the truck was a corporate vehicle for a company in Dearborn Mi.
