today while it was raining out. I decided to take a look at my steering extension I had built for my body lift.
and I found it had broke at the welded point that I had ground down. now! it was not going to come apart.
but it did make the steering a little sloppy. so I pulled it out while the rain had stopped for about ten minutes.
the adapter tab on the right side was the part that came loose. which is the one piece that will be used again in the new extension
I took the steering adapter tab and turned it down to fit in the seamless tubing. hammered it in place and welded it to the tube.
I cut a piece of the square tubing from the original extension to use as the top adapter mount. then welded that to the seamless tubing.
after it was all measured up and welded together it was ready for installing back into the truck.
so once I had it all setup it just took a little fighting to get it back in the truck and bolted back in.
now it fits much better around the manifold. no more rubbing, yes!
and I welded the nut to the under side of the top mount so putting the bolt back in was much easier this time.
took it for a ride and everything is nice and tight. feels just like it was before the body lift was installed.
another job done!
