Thanks all, I`m focusing on places North of the city, like Ossining and the Mt. Kisco/Bedford area.
I liked the White Plains area, but most of the apartments I viewed were in disrepair. Older buildings are one thing, but managers letting previous tenants mess them up with out meantime repairs is not cool. I`m not getting any sort of relocation assistance, but the company did offer me a discounted rate for "corporate" housing in White Plains...but it`s $3,000/month for the apartment. That`s fine for the wealthier scientists, but out of my reach by a looong way.
I have no idea what the commute would be like, but a friend lives in Stamford, CT. The apartments there are relatively affordable, but it`s like a 18 mile commute.
I`ve found a couple nice places in downtown Ossining, so I`m going to take a trip up there for a long weekend next week. Hopefully I can find something quickly, otherwise I`ll end up living out of an extended stay hotel until I`m able to find a place to live.
