July 28, 2014Hi all!! For round three, yes I am back. The short version of the story, about 6 years ago I sold my truck and bought a 96. Never really liked it so traded it for a Jeep. About a year ago my 99 was for sale in the area. Got a good deal on it so it is back home to stay. :-)
Time to get back into the FTW side of things. Looks pretty barren these days though so I am hoping this post finds some help soon.
While it was gone, someone modified my true dual exhaust setup. Now it has the separate pipes from the headers, dual cats, and 2-1/2 going to the Magnaflow muffler. But they sleeved the outlets and have 2-1/4 pipes coming out. Pipe broke on the inlet side of one so I was thinking maybe I would go back to Glasspacks for a while. It is not a daily driver, just my toy so would mind a little more sound coming out of it. I had them a long time ago but full 2-1/2 setup. And yes, I did lose low end torque with that setup.
Question is, I have heard that using packs on our trucks doesn`t present enough backpressure and it loses low end torque. But since my pipes go from 2-1/2 down to 2-1/4, and I would be going with the 2-1/2 packs, do you think I would suffer from the backpressure issue? Should I go with the 2-1/4 packs instead? Or should I just get a coupling and stick with with Magnaflow muffler? Any help is appreciated guys (and gals).
